Sand Substrate

i just got a new 20 gal. for christmas, and i want it to be a sand tank.. im on a budget and trying to figure my least expensive route. ive heard from one of my friends.. that even playground sand will suffice? is this true? PLEASE HELP!

Yeah I think quite few people use play sand as a substrate, as long as you wash it thoroughly it should be fine.

Lots of people use kids play sand (sandpit type stuff). Very cheap and safe. like any substrate, rinse it well before you use it. I've just put it in my tank and it looks great, don't be fooled by how it looks in the bucket while you're rinsing it.

lmbo, so i have been told. thanks for the input. ive been looking into sand for a while, but been very wary about my tanks.! thank you again

Argos sell it for about 3 quid a bag! just got a couple myself a few weeks ago but not got round to swapping it over.
