Hi,

I'm still very new to saltwater tanks and have been doing as much reading, and youtube watching, on the topic as I can.

I'm in the process of planning my first sump I've seen a few sumps where saltwater plants were added. The type that I am having trouble finding the name of is a plant that sort of looks like green tumbleweed, no roots attaching it to the soil. It just sat in the main intake area of the sump rolling over and over with the flow of water and did its work. This would obviously require its own light source but that wouldn't be a problem.

Does anyone have any experience with this plant (if I've given a good enough of a description), or any other plants in sumps? It seems like an interesting supplement for filtration.

Cheatomorpha is the plant that fits this description. I've had good success with this plant & many Marine hobbyists incorporate it into their sumps by providing a light source (usually a small clip-on CF) & adaquate flow.

Let me know if you have any questions. .
