Does anyone know if it's possibly to setup a tank where it's half saltwater & half freshwater? I only ask because I know a friend long tme who did this and only used slatwater fish in the tank. He did the water setup like this for the cost and easier care..

how would you do that the only way it would work would to be put a sealed devider in it so the salt water and fresh dont mix then have two seperate filters and heaters and so on but then you might aswell have two tanks and if any of the fish jumped over they probably wouldnt fair well.

Do you mean a brackish set-up, as mentioned already, a brackish tank is a set-up that recreates the sort of water conditions similar to where a freshwater river meets the sea and therefore the water contains salt but not as much as a marine set-up, in between if you like.

i am sure i remember some members on here keeping brackish tanks, in fact i think there is a section that focus,s on it.
