USA,
how do you get rid of it? I have it everywhere!

I have it too. My amazon sword leaves are now tainted with this filth. Do you have any algea eaters?

nope, just corries, but I did have a pleco that didnt eat it.

and its only on the fake plants

i guess you could try boiling the plastic plants, or just clean them with a sponge. that should get rid of the algea.

Sounds like you've got brown algae. It usually thrives in low-light conditions. Increase the time your lights are on and it should go away in time. Do regular water changes and wipe your plants down regularly too.

How many wpgs do you have and how long do you leave your lights on?

Hope this helps. :)

no idea what wpgs are. But I do leave it on from 7 in the morning till 9:30 at night

wpgs = watts per gallon
Find out how many watts of light you have (should be on the light tube) and divide that by the number of gallons in your tank.

Seems like your lights are on for pretty long so it might be that you have very low lighting levels (wpgs). If you can increase the lighting levels it might reduce the brown algae.

Hope this helps.
