Rubber Eel

Went to my LFS today and saw a pair of rubber eels then saw that she was giving birth to some babys. Must have been 4 inch looked great. 20 quid he said he would sell them for. The pair were alot more!

Oh wow did you watch the birth, its an amazing site, Thats a good price, but i think he should hold of for a while, let them mature abit and start eating before selling them, simonas on here is selling his sock puppet, Typhlonectes natans are stunning ugly amphibians

Yeah he knew they were ready to drop but didnt know how long we were just browsing the tank and saw her pushing one out. He lifted the rock up as the male looked asif it was stuck and 3 more babys shot out from the gravel think he said they stay in the substrate for a while when young. He didnt even know, the other 3 were larger so may have been dropped a few week ago. There bit like marmite when i first saw them I thought there just expensive leeches but they quite nice and unusual.

Yeah its quite rare in captivity, theres a good video on you tube of them giving birth...
If i had the time and tank i would get some, but with my leaving etc, have to wait a while yet..but there on my wish list

My dad is interested in them but only had a 30g maybe upgrading to a 55g in march. He has more peaceful fish than me I have breeding pair of firemouths. Hes thinking about saying 2 for £30 for two of the young would they be ok in a community tank? Dont think hed buy the pair with christmas coming up although he could probably make back what he paid with they babys if they continued to spawn.
