I want to upgrade my T8 lighting in my Fluval Roma 240 to T5. The canopy and bulbs are huge so how do I go about it simply and cheaply? I understand I will need a new ballast and connectors? There are so many links I am totally lost.
Second question is (whilst fishless cycling) I am undecided on substrate. I'll be having live plants and in my 100L I used argos playsand with 1" bed. It was OK but some of the plants don't exactly thrive.
I'm happy to give the playsand another whirl but what about some sort of specialised substrate for plants? Think I've seen it somewhere. Does it go under the sand? is it mud like?
