Rocky Algae

iv got 9 sandstone rocks in my 300 litre tank which have grown a bit of algae on due to nitrates
i tried scrubbing the algae off today with not much success
would some plecs do the job or am i jsut stuck with algae

What colour is it? I've never had problems wiping off algae under the tap with my hand.

nitrates will more than likely cause this as you say, a few fast growing plants would mop them up
