I noticed today that Riley has a dot on the middle of his left eye, it wasn't there yesterday.  I haven't managed a very good picture as he either goes off chasing the red light from the camera reflected on the back of the tank or looks at me with the other eye.

My first thought is cloudy eye but from my experience that is due to poor water quality and I have not been remiss with my water changes.  When I look at him from the side the spot seems slightly raised but I can't make out if it has a fungus-like appearance or not.

Could it possibly be an eye injury?  I am assuming changing the water more often than once a week is probably the course of action for now.... just can't tell if there is any fungus there that needs treating.

His only tankmate is a tiny horned nerrite.

At this point, I would just watch it closely to make sure that it doesn't get worse. It might be something as simple as something like a piece of dirt stuck on his eye.  I have had that happen with one of my bettas with sand before.  Just keep the water really clean so that whatever it is doesn't get worse.

Will do.  He is otherwise his normal self and showing no signs of not feeling well.

He is a cute fella! I think it is a piece of dirt as WB mentioned.

It is still there today, no change.  Though I wonder if it is a bit better as he was looking at me from that side today despite that it doesn't look any better to me.
