this may be a very silly question but ive been out of freshwater and planted for 2 years now (been dabbling in marine ;) ) but now im working in an LFS i thought to polish up on my freshi knowledge ill set up a tank.

so to my question, with dwarf riccia if you have it attatched to a piece of slate ect to create a carpet effect will it only grow on the slate or will it grow over and cover the substrate? otherwise would i have to cut a mesh that is the footprint of my tank for the riccia to grown on ? :good:

Thanks

p.s also if theres anyone in the uk with some dwarf riccia that theyve got going spare and who is willing to help out a 15 year old with little moeny then pm me ;)

the riccia will spread but it wont cover the substrate as it doesen't have roots, it will just smother itself and rot, therefore it will need thinning regularly, many people give up on it as it take a lot of time in terms of maintenance. extra Phosphate also helps growth

Esfa usually has some dwarf riccia
