Riccia, info anyone?

Do you find that your riccia 'falls' apart. I bought mine in a little packet and it was around 8cms squared. Little pieces seem to be floating off. Its rather annoying. Any idea as to should i tie it up or should i just leave it to re grow?

when it gets going it tends to "mat" together. I float it in a circle of air pipe to keep it contained ntil it gets going, then its pretty stable if its out of the main current of the filter.

:D

Thanks Sime! Its hovering around my vallis and its pretty stable, out of the way of the water out put from my filter so i hope to see some real good growth happening soon! Fingers crossed anywyas!

That's quite normal. Just let it grow.

Well Well it seems i owe you an apology MrMiagi.

i just recieved an order from Greenline of 2 tiger lotus lillys, some hairgrass and 3 bags of riccia.

when i looked at the riccia i was a little dissapointed as it looks nothing like the other riccia i have in my tank.

it seems there are 2 varieties of Riccia. the one i already have and the Japanese version (which is the one Amano used)

your riccia is the japanese one. i do appologise for being so adament your new plant was java moss (but compating the 2 they are of a simmilar structure :*) )

this is the stuff i just recieved. i think it answers your original question (if a bit late)

it's not the best pic but it's floating in the centre of the pic.
