this has become one of my favorite plants to grow out of my aquariums... what started as an experiment, but I may end up slowly replacing my pothos vines, with hoya vines.... pothos lose leaves along the vine, and don't seem to regrow them... hoya is a more interesting flowering plant, and if it loses a leaf, it often starts a new vine branch at those points... I'm curious if anyone on their own, or from my previous experiment posts, has them growing out of your tanks??? I now have 2 mature plants, and 3 more starts... hoys, hoya, hoya, hoya, hoya... there are several varieties I'll be starting some new ones, and see if the other varieties do as well as the original...

this following hoya picture from a previous post, about my nano tank... displays a blossom, plant was freshly rooted, and in that tank about a month, but with bright window light, but my biggest tank hoya, is in a dark corner of the basement, with only aquarium lights.

Hmmmm....

The Georgetown Hoyas are the collegiate athletics teams that officially represent Georgetown University, located at Washington, DC

So you are growing a University tank? :fun:

we have several in our house plants, so easy enough for me, to make cuttings and put them in the tank... in fact just putting a piece in a cup of water, will make it root, so just sticking a section in an aquarium will cause the plant to root... there are green and white variegated, and tricolor variegated, as well as curly leaf, and several other varieties... all flower, like my previous picture... in fact, they seem to flower easier and faster, in an aquarium, than in a pot... this is the next to go tank side...

I love hoyas! Takes be back to my teenage years. Hoya flowers were the smell of my aunt's entranceway. Hoya compacta, a cute twisty plant that never flowered for me. I like your pink variation, pretty! I never heard of H. kerrii.

thought I'd throw a couple pictures from my other thread on here... all of these are growing out of aquariums...

a cutting of the variegated variety, with live moss covering the ceramic media it's growing in...

I started an anubis thread, hoping others would show pictures of the different varieties they have, identified, and how they had grown for them...

if any of you are doing hoyas... show them up... I'm always look for new varieties to try...

my next will likely be a curly leaf variety, that we already have growing potted, with our house plants...

a quick hoya update… the black margin hoya. doesn’t appear to like being planted in an aquarium… I’m going to pull it, while there is still some parts alive, and put it in dirt, with the west of the house plants… typically bare rooting them in an aquarium, they stall for a month or so, before they begin growing…

the heart leafed hoya I recently put in my tetra tank, has 2 new baby leaves coming, in pretty much record time, so I have big expectations for that one, this plant is most robust , of our current hoyas… you can see the 2 new baby leaves in this picture…

here you can see several new leaves on this variegated hoya, opposite the black margin… this one is just getting going with a vengeance
