I went to my local pet store and had my water tested (To make sure my new kit is reading properly) they agreed my pH was high, and my water is very Alkaline - what does that mean?

They suggested I go to a water store and get Reverse Osmosis water. I was wondering if someone could tell me what that is and maybe if it would actually be better for my fish? :)

What is your ph reading? Whether or not it is too high for your fish depends on what you want to keep. Most of your average community fish will tolerate a varying range of phs, the important thing is that it's constant. You only need RO water if you keep fish that require really soft, acidic water. If your current sig stocking is accurate, you don't need an RO unit - unless your ph is off the charts, which I doubt!
