Rethinking It All

Since I lost most of the fish in my 55g because the heaters went off for 5 days (in northern Minnesota ... brrrrrr) I'm starting to rethink my whole setup.

I noticed late last night that most of my peppered cories in the 55g with a gravel substrate had lost most or all of their barbels. So I put them into the 15g with the green cories and a gazillion male guppies and the sand substrate, and nearly everyone seems much happier. I have a very large green cory that was one of my first fish ever, and it doesn't seem to be eating since I first got back and discovered the heat was off. I'm still hoping it will recover.

All I have in the 55g now is 4 serpae tetra, 3 Von Rio tetra, a molly and a common pleco.

I could move the male guppies to the 55g and the tetras to the 15g.

I could move everybody over to the 15g, replace the gravel in the 55g with sand and move the tetras, peppers and pleco back to the 55g and get some more tiger barbs.

I could give up fish keeping.

I'll take any and all suggestions!

Change to sand, move all Corys to the large tank, get all of those schools up to 10+ individuals.

Been there, done that, got the "T" shirt..... I sold everything (150 tank fully equipped setup)... and less than 3 months later, I started from scratch.....

Nope!!... "Rest" for 1 month.....(just maintain what you've got left) rethink your strategy, and then pick up the pieces and start from scratch......

Don't give up fish keeping.
Sure you have had a bit of a bad time, but it really is a fantastic hobby.

You're just in a downer at the moment, i get it all the time with my music
and get the "rage quit" face on and take it out on my poor gf haha!!

Just give it a rest like ludwig mentioned and you'll soon get that spark back,
dont rush into selling up ect when you're feeling like you are as you'll prob regret it.
