Just got back from my LFS, i saw this beautiful vibrant blue VT chap, he was tiny! he seemed to have a swimming issue he looked healthy but kind of dragged himself along the gravel to come investigate. the only fish he was in with were 3 penguin tetra that stayed at the top so he's not being bothered.

Anyone know what this could be? i am setting up my 3 gal shrimp tank today and am tempted to rescue him and put him in there.

He came up and did his little half wiggle and i melted  i am really tempted to go get him in the morning

Do it! He sounds lovely.
Maybe with a bit of tlc he'll heal up a bit? Could be a swim bladder issue, but I'm not really sure. I think you'd know more than me anyway!

YOU WERE MEANT TO BE GETTING BLOODWORM!!!!

Poor little fella :(

I was and then was informed i have some in another freezer

Came away with some wood for the shrimp tank and a Pair of Dwarf Gourami for the community (which i have just realised she charged me too much for :grr:)

When I'm umming and ahhing about a 'rescue', I weigh up how miserable it looks in the tank its in at the moment, vs how happy I could keep it... usually I win, and buy it!

 Not just me then! Will get the shrimp tank up tonight (mature media!) and pop back and get him tomorrow me thinks :D

There was also a lovely Lilac VT with torn fins that may also come home :shifty:

Poor little guy, i was like that for years over furry pets wanting to rescue them all from horrible pet shops and eventually had to tell myself that although i can rescue those ones they will just be replaced by more  I know this isnt the exact same thing as the fishie isnt well-the last rattie i rescued from a pet shop was one that wasnt well either, i didnt think she would make it but she did and she was one of the sweetest girls  I shall definately be looking forward to seeing photos of your new boy!

I actually popped into our LFS today too to have a look around-the last time we were there about 2 weeks ago they didnt have a single Betta, today they had cup after cup all over the shop-most of the cups werent even half full and most of the boys looked very miserable and tatty  It was quite upsetting to be honest. Alot of people give pets at home a bad rep, and mostly it is deservedly so(the afore mentioned rattie was from there!) but the last time i was in PAH i witnessed a woman with a little girl asking where they sold those fish bowls(the tiny ones with no filter/light etc) and the lad told her they dont sell them because they arent suitable for fish-the woman was gobsmacked and seemed really annoyed about it  but it got me wondering if our LFS would have said the same to her or just sold her an unsuitable bowl? after all it seems obvious to me that the cups were there due to the summer holidays and children being attracted to the "pretty fish that dont need a special tank"

Sorry to go off topic a little there, your thread just reminded me of that! lol as i said, looking forward to seeing pics of the new guy and seeing how much better he gets in your care :good:

My Betta popeye has one eye and I adopted him I was there looking for a Betta and the person offered it for free since nobody wanted to buy a one eyed betta

My LFS is very good, they usually offer me the ill/nipped 1s at a big discount, they know i love my bettas and know they will be taken care of so are happy to do this, i suppose some money is better than a dead fish at the end of the day :good:

   Yes,- but did any of us actually believe that Siobhan would come home without fish?!!!

You're just like me,- I always take on/in any neglected/injured/damaged etc, etc animals that I feel would be better off with me than in their current situation. I never need to think twice,- I'm such a sucker! Causes quite a lot of grief with the old man though! ;) :D
