Poor little guy, i was like that for years over furry pets wanting to rescue them all from horrible pet shops and eventually had to tell myself that although i can rescue those ones they will just be replaced by more

I know this isnt the exact same thing as the fishie isnt well-the last rattie i rescued from a pet shop was one that wasnt well either, i didnt think she would make it but she did and she was one of the sweetest girls

I shall definately be looking forward to seeing photos of your new boy!
I actually popped into our LFS today too to have a look around-the last time we were there about 2 weeks ago they didnt have a single Betta, today they had cup after cup all over the shop-most of the cups werent even half full and most of the boys looked very miserable and tatty

It was quite upsetting to be honest. Alot of people give pets at home a bad rep, and mostly it is deservedly so(the afore mentioned rattie was from there!) but the last time i was in PAH i witnessed a woman with a little girl asking where they sold those fish bowls(the tiny ones with no filter/light etc) and the lad told her they dont sell them because they arent suitable for fish-the woman was gobsmacked and seemed really annoyed about it

but it got me wondering if our LFS would have said the same to her or just sold her an unsuitable bowl? after all it seems obvious to me that the cups were there due to the summer holidays and children being attracted to the "pretty fish that dont need a special tank"
Sorry to go off topic a little there, your thread just reminded me of that! lol as i said, looking forward to seeing pics of the new guy and seeing how much better he gets in your care
