Noise levels (tank is in my bedroom)

and anything else i should no about them thanks.

Make sure you cut the tubing to the specified lengths. I messed up on one of mine and cut it about 3 or 4 inches longer than recommended and had nothing but trouble with it until I cut the tubing the right length. All of my Rena XP filters are dead silent all of the time except the first minute or two after a cleaning, while they are automatically purging themselves of any air buildup. Once you are set up properly, the only maintenance they need is a cleaning every few months. You don't even fill the canister with water after cleaning, just place the filter back in place, push down the shutoff lever, wait a minute for the filter to fill itself and plug it in. That is it for the next month or three.

Had one with my tank when I got it, was ok, just about did the job, but had an absolute nightmare priming the thing every time I cleaned my tank out. Would take me ages to get the thing going, which meant puddles of water over the floor!!!! I think a lot of people like them, but personally, wouldn't get another.

My first guess, SPB, the suction hose cap was not installed properly or, surprise, surprise, the tubing was too long for the way you were set up. Length really does matter in the filter's tubes. It will get a slight kink in it if it is too long which will make it hard to prime and will cause it to stop pumping completely long before it is starting to get dirty. I was dead serious about watching that you do as instructed on cutting the suction tubing.

It may have been that, I will never know! Needed to get a new filter at the time, as the XP2 I had was nowhere near powerful enough for the tank. I got the tank second hand with filter so never had any instructions, so I guess the people who first set it up, never set it up properly. The actual filter itself did a good enough job, but the hassle during maintenance as I said was a nightmare.

I have 1 XP1 and 1 XP3 and both have been good for me so far. Completely silent and not that difficult to maintain / clean / prime / etc..
