I had one little oto that would hang out with my bristle nose pleco. I would even see the little oto sit on top of the bn pleco it cracked me up. They were buddies but not in love. Fish are so weird some times.

one of the funny relation ships is when my little hermit sits on top of the big hermit and just goe where he goes and no there not fighting for shells :shout:

There must be something in the air for red tailed sharks then, last night my red tailed shark was displaying and bumping my pink kissing gourami, they dissapeared behind a rock and I saw a milky white cloud appear and then disperse  . I am having visions of red tailed pink kissing sharks

If I see any milky white clouds going off in there I'm setting up a tank divider!
It is looking like freaky love connections in the tank aren't that uncommon.

I have a tiny Yellow Lab Cichlid that shoals with my Clown Loaches, he even tries to get the wiggle thing going, but he's too stubby. This is merely cause for amusement rather than concern. The Red Tail and the Pleco know I'm onto them now - oh yeah, I'll be droppin' that temp down a couple degrees in there tonight. :shifty:

i have a lone silvertip tetra who follows the albino cats about. we have 4 cats, but the tetra mainly seems to be with the blind one (it has no eyes).

glad to know this can be normal behaviour!

Who cares that this topic is 5 mths old!! Its great!!!

I used to have marbelled hatchets, and through a tank problem, they all died but one. Because I assume he was lonely, he used to come right down to the middle of the tank and shoal with my tiger barbs!!!!! Odd I know but they never used to chase him away!! Only other romance ive had is my Sailfin Molly who tried to woo anything with a fishy pulse!!!

One of my platy's thinks she's a tetra. She tries and swims in the group of them! It's so cute!

this topic is 5 months old.
so what

if we're not allowed to post in old threads, lock them. simple as.

half the time you get moaned at because you start a thread similar to an old one. we can't win!

on topic - my silver tip was the last one, and chased the other tetras we had all the time. whitespot wiped the tank out, apart from 7 fish, the silver tip, 4 albino cats, bristlenose plec and black ghost knifefish (who had it and survived). since then the tetra has had no one to bully, and has taken a liking to the cats!!

we put new fish in yesterday and any time one of those went near the cat the tetra would chase it away! so cool to watch, such an unusual pairing! :D

I've never had cross-species fish-love, but I did have a male dwarf gourami whom I bought at the same time as a female. He killed her within a few days, so I got him another, and he killed her too. So then I got 2 more males, and then they were all happy together...

Is it possible to have gay fish?? I didn't think so but... lol

lmao! rabbit cat love is new!

i had what we thought was a pair of dwarf gouramis, but it's possible they were both male... never saw them try to mate, they got on fine, but it was our siamese fighter who took a liking to them both, lmao! he kept flirting with them both, and when they eventually died, the fighter seemed quite lonely after that. poor fish!
