Hi guys,

I recently bought some guppies from my LFS (two males and 4 females) and they have been fine for a week, but this morning I found that one of the females had died for some unknown reason. The other guppies are fine apart from one female who seems to have developed a red spot on her top. I'm not sure if this is from the males chasing her or something else, but I've taken piccys so hopefully someone can see whats up?

It looks like a sore or a parasite but I can't be sure but I've never seen red ones before. From the pictures it doesn't look like normal coloration. You should probably post this in fish emergencies if looks bad.

it could be a paracite or a sore but it could be, due to her colouring, part of her colouration. However i would be suspicious about these guppies and if you can quarenteen them as one has died which could have been from a disease that could spread to the other fish.
Hope this helps

How long has their tank been set up and what are your chemical test results? I find that is often the best questions to ask when I have a fish in trouble because water is their entire world. Unlike us, they have no alternative to the water they live in and cannot take any precautions to make it seem better. There is no such thing as a gas mask for the water pollutants. They must simply endure them or you can help them out by doing a huge water change.
