I have this 25gal community tank.

i really like the red plants in there but i really don’t know much about caring red plants, do they need special fertilizer or lighting?

now i use Tetra Initial Sticks and Tropica Fertilizer. I turn on the light 8 hours a day and add fertilizer once a week after water change and root tabs every month.

sorry for the blurry pic.

From what I have read (I am trying red plants for the first time as well), red plants need strong light, good ferns, and iron additives.

thank you.

i don’t know if my fertilizer is good enough but all my green plants are thriving.

also the same about lights, all my green plants like the light a lot.

maybe i should look up about iron additive.

the red plants really are so pretty :)

most red or purple plants sold for aquariums are garden plants that don't belong in water. Rotala macranda is the only red plant I can think of that is good underwater.

i have rotala macranda in there but also ludwigia repens and cabomca caroliniana. I’ll try my best and see what happen then :)

thank you.
