I need some info on filters. I have a sponge filter for my 2.5 gallon tank. I also have a battery operated siphon that works great.

Should I get an extra filter, HOB or Internal filter to help the sponge filter keep the water even cleaner?

Or should I just continue with the Sponge Filter I have, along with weekly water changes and siphoning?

If by any chance I do get one of these filters, does the carbon affect the biological filter on the sponge?

Which Filters do you recommend at a reasonable price and how do you rate them when it comes to there performance, reliability and dependability? :D :)

Internal filters such as fluval ones are good but in a 2.5g will take up alot of space and carbon in filters can often add to water clarity but on the bad side can clear the water of any meds being used. You could get a HOB but it depends if the price if worth it.

I was thinking of getting a small carbon filter for my 1g Betta tank that I will have soon ...
