Recommended External Filter For A 60L Tank?

My internal filter (Eheim Aquaball 60) just isn't cutting it any more so looking for a decent external filter. Can anyone recommend me a good one please? I have a 60L tank.
 
Came across the Tetra EX Plus 600, are these any good or are there better?

Or would I be better off with a better internal like a Fluval U2?

Actually, just measured the cabinet cupboard and there's not enough space for an external
 
So needs to be internal. Thinking either a Fluval U2 or an Eheim Biopower 160? Anyone any other recommendations?

Have you considered a hob filter?
(hang on back filter)
 
Although have to say these Fluval U2 filters are pretty good, does exactly what its supposed to do and I have had one and never had issues with them.
