I am looking for a good gravel vac with good suction for my 240 litre planted tank.
I have been using a siphon type, but don't want to take water out everytime i use it. And i always uproot or trash some plants while doing it.
I want to gravel clean more frequently with a vac with good suction.
I have been looking at the "pgr 1000, mains power gravel cleaner" and the battery operated "eheim sludge extracter"
I would guess that the pgr 1000 is better because it is mains powered. Am i right, or do you know of something better.
Any advice greatfully recieved

this seems good. a few people here use one. trawling the net reveals they have a good rep all round.

I got a eheim sludge extracter. It's good but not as powerfull as a syphon. Also it makes the tank cloudy if you don't empty the muck out every couple of minutes.

I honestly use a cut off from a garden hose with a 8cm piece of 16/22mm tubing on the end, works really well and cost me virtually nothing.

If your tank is above waist hight or so it's really easy to just DIY a bit of hose and use that. Gravity will take over and just syphon it off when your doing water changes.

get one that can hook up to your sink, it makes cleaning and refilling much faster!
