Recomend Me A Good Test Kit.

can anybody suggest me a test kit, that is fairly cheap... for my new tank ive set up.

the api liquid drop test kits are pretty good . dont buy the test strips ( kind of like litmus paper) they are useless

ok, what does it need to test for?

ammonia and nitrite , i wouldnt bother too much with the nitrate 1 as they arent very accurate . but for a newly set up tank id get ammonia and nitrite. i wouldnt be overly concerned with ph either for now .

yes they are good kits . you could do a lot worse than that .

it is cheaper, but it is for saltwater.

I have never used a test kit before, but must be straight forward?

APi master test kit. About £20 on ebay, £30 in your LFS.

i'd just like to say that i took my api kit to my mates who has api strips, and we got identical results testing his water with both methods. we both wrote our results down without knowing the other persons results, and ended up with the same ones. giving people the impression the test strips are not worth the paper theyre written on is a bit wrong if you ask me. yes they're not always as accurate, and it might be different if youre not using API strips, but i was impressed enough to maybe just get strips when my kit eventually runs out.

That's what i get for trying to be fast and not reading it poperly!

the instructions are quite straight forward on the bottles

I bought an API test kit of EBAY. I think i paid around £17. I have found this easy to use. The instructions tell you what you should expect from readings and also remedies if readings are high or low. In the long run i would say liqiud test kits are bettter value than strips.
