At that stage of development, they feed on aquatic organisms...and yes, they are voracious predators!!! as adults they eat flying bugs. if you want to properly raise it feed it IN the water column (small fish, tadpoles. bloodworms, other small swimming aquatic creature etc.)...you need to have something for it to crawl up and out of the water to metamorphose on, such as a stick partially submerged w/ part of it out of the water, or something similar. they are not like most other water born insects taht hatch at the surface (like mosquitoes or black flies). you could even use a large mason/canning jar with a lid. you just need to keep it fed and live plants will help, but my not be necessary due to the spp. but since it was found in (relatively) stagnant aquarium water, a jar would be fine (some spp. need more O2/cooler waters that other species). i hope you go thru with it and try to grow it up. id LOVE to see pictures (im quite obsessed with dragonfiles).
