It's recently been said in the scientific community that "simple" pets such as fish will ultimately be replaced by robotic replicas, becuase they have "a very limited logic which is easy to emulate". The idea behind this is that people could have beautiful fish with zero maintenance, and that never dies. Indeed, Mitsubishi have already created a robot Koi, although it's not available. Robots carry advantages such as complete amateurs don't end up killing their fish, marine and tropical species could live side by side, completely new species or colour variants could be invented...

If such fish became commercially available, would you make the switch?

Personally - give me live ones, anyday!

Real for sure,
What does a robot fish do for me? Not much, I want to be able to see my tank grow.
