Razers Fishless Cycle!

got it :) erm but does anyone know why ive suddenly got these odd results? (on 1st post)

bump!

honestly guys i could do with some help, my tank was doing the cycle in 12 hours...i missed 1 day for like half an hour and my results have gone down the pan :(

I don't really see anything wrong with your results. The nitrite had a short anomaly where it showed very low values but is back where you might expect. The ammonia is still moving down fairly well. If you plot the results on a graph, I think you will find that the trend is improving although each individual reading seems to be moving around. Do not plot the 12 hour and 24 hour data on the same graph since that will be confusing.

im just going by the 12 hour results lol, just the fact that the tank was able to process the ammonia in 12 hours at 1 point for a couple days....oh well :)

im hoping someone might know why my cycle is doing this but, we had to rearange our front room to paint, this ment i had to move the tank aswell, so instead of pulling water out of the tank i draged it along the floor (dragina 60l tank is NOT recommended!) anyway since doing this the cycle seems to have gone made!! for the past few days my ammonia hasnt droped below .50ppm and i havent topped it up! although the nitrites are reading 0???? is it possible ive disturbed something when i moved it? or maybe im not cleaning my vials correctly? im going to restest it later after soaking the viles in warm water but still is this normal in the cycle? its as if ive started all over again :(

It is acting as if you had started again. Did you protect the tank completely from the paint fumes? The nice odor of fresh paint is a volatile organic that can get into your water and cause significant damage to fish. I have no idea what it might do to a brand new bacterial colony.

yea, i had a towl over the tank, im sure it started playing up before we painted though....well i havent botherd to do major test atm untill it sorts itself which it seemed to have done today, im going to test it again tonight as i added about 3ppm of ammonia to see if it could process it...hoping it does :(

ive noticed the cycle seems to be correcting itself but, would a snail cause havoc to my cycle as there is a snail in there at about 5mm in size, theres also lots of little "bugs" swiming about and i mean lots! i feel as though my cycle is going no where :(

A snail is a bioload for your filter to deal with but I would not expect a single small snail to really skew the readings very much.

ah thats a good thing then, but shouldn't the ammonia affect the snail? huh anyway im doing 12 hour checks, should i cut this down to doing 24 hour checks as i have been getting readings of ammonia reach upto 1ppm.....

If you still have ammonia after 24 hours, there is not much point to testing at a shorter interval.

ok, so i know the tank is able to process 4ppm of ammonia in 12 hours (done the testing but not adding here) the only problem is....it seems to stay on 1ppm no matter what? as if my bacteria is not growing anymore??anyone got any ideas on this?? the temp is fine.....the IS a decaying snail in there, he died and i found him this morning with white decay...have no idea how long he has been dead, going to remove him tonight as i have to go work now, thanks!
