Is the riccia really a pain to take care of. I hear it breaks off and floats to the top since it never roots itself. Oh and i noticed the hairnet over the coconut cave. Does it have to stay like that forever, what happens when it rots away?
Oh and if you haven't heard it enough already, I deeply envy you for your beautifully planted tanks, especially seeing as i am just getting into planting.

riccia is a pain at first, it takes about a month to fill out then all you have to do is give it a haircut every week. the bith you cut float to the surface so easily netted. if you do it correctly, pulling the hairnet tight with no loose bits 90% of the riccia should stay submerged. the bits that do float off can be left in the tank to multiply, then you can make something else with that stuff.

yeah the hairnet on the cave will stay there, it was a rush job so you can still see bits. the riccia will grow over it though. the hairnets are nylon so wont rot for a long time.
