Rainbowfish Male To Female Ratio?

I want to have 6 Turquoise Rainbowfish in my 55 gallon, how many males and how many females should I get?

Yep, 2 females per male minimum.

What dimensions does this 55g have? I'm concerned you are talking about a 55 US gallon tank, which might be a tad cramped.
What else have you got planned for the tank? I'm wondering if you go for 3 males and 6 females instead, bigger school would be better, with 3/4 Spotted or Empire Gudgeon for the tank bottom.

The tank is 4' long, around 20" tall, and about 12" wide. The other fish are 9 Serpaes, 1 Pearl Gourami, and 1 RTS.

There is no fixed rule on the sex ratio; 4m/2f will work and 2m/4f too. 5m/1f is the only one that *may* be problematic, but in a large tank, you should be ok.
