Ive found there are three groups to the melafix issue:

Camp A) never use with anabantids
Camp B) use with anabantids
Camp C) use reduced dosage with anabantids

I will go camp C as a last resort and have only had to do so once.
Oh and yes sophie1992, the issue exists with all anabantids

Sounds good y'all The Melafix was really more for the betta who chews his fins, because no amount of clean water will heal them. I've never actually caught him in the act, but I've been over the tank a million times, and there's actually an old thread floating around somewhere about it. Fin chewing is all anyone can come up with! Not sure if he still chews or not, but they don't heal at all, even with Nitrates around 10 consistently! No fin rot, he just was much prettier with his fins

My Vader chews his fins, I never catch him doing it but just know he does, I was advised to change things on the outside of his tank, so now try to put something of a variation of colours by his tank now for his amusement.
