well i havn't checked the specific gravity for all the fish involved, but i havwe done the rest. i was wondering if i would be able to set up a mangrove set up and have waspfish, mudskippers and fiddler crabs in there.

if so what tank size would you reccommend as i would want a coupel mudskippers (1 will be fine) a couple waspfish and a bunch of fiddler crabs. i think they may get eaten by the waspfish or the mudskippers may get eaten. i don't know exactly how voracious of eaters waspfish really are. as we all know there is no better information than learning from experienced people. sometimes the research online is off and unreliable. it benefits me more to learn from you guys!!! thanks in advanced!!! :D

Waspfish like a SG of at least 1.010 up to full marine. Mudskipper will be fine between 1.005 and 1.015. Fiddler crabs will go from 1.005 up to near full marine.

The tank size depends on the species of mudskipper you are looking to keep (Neale can probably expand on that). A waspfish can't swallow a fiddler crab or probably even an Indian dwarf mudskipper, but don't quote me on the mudskipper.

In theory, yes, as these beasts all live in the same fluctuating salinity environment. An SG of 1.010 would suit them all. Mudskippers and fiddlers aren't the perfect combination though. Fiddlers are rather easily bullied, despite their big claws, and a big mudskipper could easily damage a small fiddler. Some mudskippers actually eat fiddler crabs. So if you're going to try this, keep species of similar size. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.

Mudskippers will be fine with fish of similar size. Larger fish frighten them, very much smaller fish may be viewed as food. A waspfish should be fine.

Make sure you have a read of Richard Mleczko's mudskipper web site. He's very experienced with these fishes, and can be relied up to be 100% accurate in what they need.

As AMS alludes, there are multiple species of mudskipper, and the species offered depends very much on where you live. In my Brackish book (out very soon now) Richard explains which species are traded in what parts of the world. In the meantime, try and get a name for the species offered. Some are only 8 cm long when mature, others over 20 cm. So it does make a big difference!

Cheers,

Neale

the thing is that i have NEVER seen them for sale anywere i have been to in new york, usa. i would need ot order them online. then i could give you guys more information. it might be easier for you to tell me which species would be good to add (if i can get ahold of them)so that i can make a list and see what the lfs MIGHT be able to order for me?

as for the fiddlers, i think i will set up a seperate tank then jsut for them. maybe like a 10 gallon with a few in there or a 20 gallon or something. thanks for the help guys :D.
