Hello, sorry, I'm VERY new to this and very cautius about everything, so I like to learn as much as possible before I do anything...
I recently purchased some gorgeous Balloon Mollies, and one of them gave birth to around 40 fry of all different colors. These are some healthy babies too: they were "on their own" with 4 adults in the tank for about an hour or so (I was new to them and not sure how close mom was to popping...) They managed to hide amongst the plants and were a PAIN to catch (fast right from the start!)
I moved them into a breeders net where they stayed for 2 days while their tank was getting ready for them. I actually found some of the fry still in the tank over the next day and a half, so some of these little guys were pretty good at hiding and swimming!
I moved them all to their own tank, and they have been living their happy and healthy for a few days now. As much as I would love to... I will not be able to keep them all for obvious reasons. I am going to talk to some fish stores in the area and see if they are interested in taking them for store credit.
I also had some questions about shipping fish, as I see it done all the time, but don't know much about it.
How do you "package" a fish for shipping? How much does it cost generally? How old do the fish have to be before shipping?
Thanks in advance.
