I have been keeping my Plakat male in with my one and only female for quite a while now and they haven't had any problems, they have divided the tank between them (left/right) and the male gave the female the more planted half (which i thought was rather sweet TBH)... But is this actually a good idea? i heard somewhere that is really isnt a good idea to put a male in with a female long term... but they seem alright to me... they even meet in the middle sometimes and say hi, but there has never been ANY hostility...

Its risky to do. Males can flip on a whim and really hurt the female. It can also be vice versa. the female can snap.

2 months is nothing, most problems start to appear around the 6month time it is very risky personally i wouldn't do it

I will watch out then as i have nowhere else to put him... he does have a go at my female molly though... but only when she is chasing the other fish :)

just worked out from lilfishies link that my female is a SuperDelta :well happy bro:

its my community tank... and my other tank is a community tank as well...

While not impossible, it is extremely unusual for males and females to get on. To me, your description means "the female is hiding in the area of the tank where it is possible to hide".

i get what you mean, but she doesnt hide... she is frequently out and about and interacts with the male a fair bit (friendly manner though...)

do you have a picture? and one time, ive had a male and female betta, i was about to go on a cruise, no one to take care of the 2, so i put them in the 5 gallon with a divider, the trip was 1 week so the whole time i was worried. after the cruise was over, wen i got home, only the male was aliv, somehow the divider fell and the male killed th efemale, i miss tht female, the male survived for about another year, and passed away, i miss them both.

How big is your tank?

Might be the water was pretty bad and/or somehow the female died and the male ate her?
