If you have 2 pumps, say an internal filter and an external with a spraybar. How is the best way to set them up (direction) to ensure a good water flow?

I have two externals both with spray bars facing each other from opposite sides of the tank. The water meets in the middle and is forced down and then back towards the outlets in the rear corners.

An internal and external i would do the same kinda setup

Thanks for the answer but my internal is just a pipe rather than a spray bar and points from halfway down the tank. A guy in a shop said to point towards the bottom, is that not normal?

i have a juwel rio internal filter alongside my eheim i have the flow of the filters pointing the same way along the back of the tank just type in juwel rio 400 on youtube and you will see what i mean.

When i ran the internal on my rio180 i ran it along the back of the tank horizontal to where it came out of the filter unit

Thanks for the answers. So is it not normal to have the pump facing downwards and across the substrate?

I've just started to run a 2nd internal filter, and after asking on here first i was advised to have the flows opposite each other, my Juwel filter is on the back left of the tank pointing right(across the back) and my Fluval is on the front left pointing right(across the front).

This gives a really good circulation.

Mark.
