Question About The Color In My Betas Fins

I have noticed that the tips of his/her fins have lost their color I have been watching over the past 2-3 weeks to see if it has gotten any worse but it hasn't. It also hasn't gotten any better. What could be the cause of this? BTW I have no idea how to tell the difference between male or female.

sounds like its fins are actually growing. new growth is clear (with a slight hint of what color it will be) and colors up over time. a picture would be helpful, but i think it is growth.

I hope it's growth as you said. These are the best pictures I could get, Ghost doesn't stop moving for a second.

In Bettas, males are the only ones with long flowing fins like that.

So that's definitely a male. Females only have short fins (some males do too, then it gets hard to tell them apart! But yours is definitely male.)

That looks like some sort of fuzzy fungus to me.

I don't think it's fungus, I've seen fungus before. It is like the tips of his tail and fins are see through. I was worried it was due to stress or poor water quality. Not that I don't take care of our aquarium, I'm just paranoid about things like that.

The pics are a bit blurry but that does look like a fungus to me too it looks like he is in a community tank with other fish, what other fish do you have in there and how long have you had him? it would be better if you could isolate him to a small 5 gallon tank with a heater and filter carrying out regular water changes to observe him, it will be easier to treat him too.

clear bits at the ends is new growth. its hard to tell from the pics as it is kinda blurry from his movements. you said that it isnt getting worse, or better. i would not treat for anything unless you are certain that the fish has what you are treating for. im not convinced that it is fungus or finrot. methinks new fin growth. keep his water nice and clean and half dose with melafix for at least a week. see if that does the trick.(and if the clear bits get longer without compromising the length of his tail it is for sure just new growth.
keep your eye on the clear spots. does it look like there is a hint of color to them, especially adjoining where there IS color. that wuold be new growth.

How will that melafix effect my other fish? there are mollies, tetras, giant danios, and a pleco (i almost forgot 1 baby mollie in a breeder net). I have had him in the community tank for about a year give or take a month. At the moment I have no other tank to isolate him too.

He is in a 20 gallon and his tail hasn't changed at all, better or worse. I am picking up some of that stuff that loraxchick mentioned. Unfortunately those are the clearest pictures I have. Ghost doesn't stop moving long enuf for me to get a good shot of him

It could be camera blur that makes it look like fungus. But, yeah, it does look fuzzy and fungus-like to me.

does it look fuzzy or fluffy? any redness? other fish in the tank? and do the other fish have any symptoms? what is the temp of the tank?
do a 30% waterchange and 1/2 dose of melafix. pimafix is a better solution for fungal things. i know you just went out and bought melafix, but if it appears fluffy or stringy or fuzzy it might be fungal, in which case pimafix is a better alternative. again, use this at half dose.
keep the water clean!!! id suggest 20-30% water changes every day until it clears up. do not go out and buy "real" medication until you are certain what you are treating.. pimafix and melafix are natural tonics and do not cause the strain mutations that antibiotics/anti fungals do.
pimafix and melafix are good "meds" to have on hand.

clean water is best cure, stress coat conditoner for water will help with many waterchanges too.
