Hi! So I am not new here at all! But I just bought a new tank.. this new tank has a divider.. So I bought myself another betta!! I have them both in the tank.. but they keep flairing at eachother.. I know this is normal betta behavior.. but im wondering if they will calm down.. any advise? thanks!!

That's pretty much it. You kind of just have to watch them and see if they work it out. The ones that I have tried to put together, divided, I've had to separate into other tanks. I had one betta who would probably have died from exhaustion and stress had I not moved him, he wouldn't give up despite that I planted along the divider to provide extra screening. Keep an eye on them to make sure their health isn't jeopardized.

Mine cant bear to see each other they flare for ever. Only 2 who dont are Jobys and they do like to see each other but accidently put my large fantail goldfish in front of them the other day. He must have looked like a giant to them and they were flaring for 10 minutes until I realised. I have got 2 in a divided tank but they at first flared at the shadow of the other one as they saw it through the divider but now are ok. I have got my really old boy one side though and he is very laid back

If you do put 2 in you need a Plan B, in case they are feisty, they will get too stressed then. :good:

Mine's fiesty beyond all reason. Whenever I put the mirror up to his tank, I only do it for about 30 seconds, because if I take it away, he'll still flare at that corner of the tank for a good five minutes. He's a mad-betta, I tell you!

It just depends on their temperments, really. Give 'em some time.

I have 4 males and 1 female. They've always been able to see each other, so they're not into much flaring anymore. Occassionally they will flare when I'm feeding them, I guess they think if they flare at each other, I will want to feed one of them first or more often.

If you find they flare too much, and you'll likely know when the time comes, the easiest way to keep them in the same tank is to put all their plants (live or silk) against the dividers. With their plants blocking their view, they'll see each other rarely, and flare less. You might have to purchase more plants to accomplish this, if you plan on keeping them in their divided tank.

Maybe you shouldn't let them see each other so much. When it comes time to take pictures of them with "flags up", you may be disappointed when they don't perform.

No they do not calm down they get even mad so do not split up the divider they would fight forever intel one dies.B):fish:

Mine flared at some java moss I put in for him. Talk about a useless exercise! I guess like some of the others have said, just wait it out and see.......Then go to plan B if you have to.
