Question About Fishless Cycle

Stress Coast is the best water conditioner to use right? In the past I've used Amquel. Basically that's the only thing u need is water conditioner for your tank, right? I'm just making sure I get the right things. I know I need pure ammonia, eye dropped whatever... and test kit. I should get the best liquid kind? Or what? the tablets? I remember before the liquids gave me false results or something. What kind of test kits do you use? I want this to turn out correctly this time.

Dechlorinator: Stress Coat is fine, but so are most of the ones out there now. Just make sure it treats both chlorine and chloramine.

Test kit: Just get an Aquarium Pharmacueticals Master Test Kit. They're cheap, reasonably accurate, and don't give false positives for ammonia with Amquel.

Sand: Pool filter sand. Good stuff. Very light in color, but the particles are fairly large, meaning they get sucked into filters and syphons much less often. It's also generally a lot cleaner out of the bag than most sands.

when vacumming does all the sand come out too or what?

also what happens if your power goes out from a bad storm. I never asked questions like this before. I know your cycle is in jeperdy then? cause the filter won't be getting water or whatever for awhile?

The sand (depending on how fine-grained it is) will come out if you get the vacuum too close which you have to do most of the time to get all the trash up. As for power outages, here is a current thread about that very thing.
