If i keep only one betta in a 15 gallon will he produce enough ammonia to keep my tank cycled? Or do i need more fish? because i haven't decided what to put in it yet. Should i put my betta in there?
thanks

Yes,

There is always a balance between waste products and bacteria, that is produced the less bacteria that will be present, but that will be the number that is suffice to do the job

Just be careful with the betta and make sure it can get to the surface easily. I had to transfer my betta back to his 1 gallon b/c he was having trouble getting to the top. (Though I did have 2 bettas in a 10 gal and they were fine)

You can use the betta to cycle the tank though if you plan to add more fish, just don't overload the tank. Add them one at a time and over a long period of time. If you just dump in 4 fish, the tank will have to cycle all over again since the beneficial bacteria will not be able to keep up with the waste.
