Here's the male I got at auction a couple weeks ago. He's from Wasan betta, I paid 6 bucks B)
It appears he's going to make it through the transition. He didn't look so well the first few days and I assumed the change in water was too much and he was a goner. Guess not I'm moving him to a 2.5 of his own later tonight Maybe someday I'll breed him if I can find the proper lady.

I'd say I was guilty but that's not my shade He is cute. I like him now. It takes me awhile to warm up to newbies in the fishroom.I look at them as disease balls until I get to know them better

I went out and bought a female...that looks alot like your male! How do I know weather or not my female is a male or female? Do females fan their gills too? Cause this one does. Males do not get those red "racing stripes" on their gills though...right? *confused*

Look on the underside of your fish... if it has a white spot just behind its ventral fins (the two that stick down under its gills,) then it's a female. If it was sold to you as a female, it probably is
Some females do flare their fills, and the "racing stripes" are pretty common in bettas, no matter the sex.

You guys are too funny Now all I see are those kiss marks and I never even noticed them before! That's why I love betta pictures,it's so much easier to pick out detail with them.

Gee, since he has a kiss print on him, maybe you should name him Paul, or Gene, or Ace................... (sorry, bad pun)

He's very different Wuv! Should make for some interesting offspring if you can find the right little lady for him! Keep us posted if you ever do.
