would a group of yellow labs work with a few Pseudotropheus Saulosi males with no female saulosi presnt?

The male saulosi would probably fight. Are you suggesting this because you want the colors? If so, have you considered p. acei instead of saulosi (or you could keep a few saulosi as well if our tank's big enough)? The yellow-tail acei is mostly purple-blue and looks lovely with yellow labs. It would be a better choice because both sexes have that color.
 
Keep in mind that only one or two saulosi will actually show their full color. The rest, as subdominent males, will show somewhere between orange and blue, and won't look very pretty.
