hi everyone, finally had my tank up and running long enough to get my plecs so went to lfs to purchase 2 bristlenoses they are about 3 inches long no bristles yet tho?

Just reading more about their diet, they have bogwood and cucumber but i was looking at king british algae wafers and plec tablets. Anyone have an opinion on which is best?

Thanks

i have used king british in the past and the plecs loved them, i had the disks/tablets and pellets

They dont get their proper bristles until they are bigger and the female will have very few whereas the males nose will be covered.

I feed mine plec wafers, peas, courgettes, peppers, cucumber, sweet potatoes, bananas, flake food, frozen blood worms & daphnia, crab pellets, raw minced beef, cooked or raw prawn and tuna from my sandwich!!

Try everything and anything, they will soon let you know the score - they are all individuals and some will gobble it up and some wont!

as above. mine like the hikari algae wafers the loaches and killys love the hikari carnivore pellets the plecs have a munch on them too

foods as above but at 3 inchs i would have expected some bristles if they havent stands a chance u have 2 females most of the time they have no bristles at all :)

hi thanks for your replies i didn't realise you could feed them such a wide variety of food!! i'll be raiding the kitchen later. they seem to be quite active now and i've managed to have a better look at them, there are no bristles yet on either so i think they are females. is there a difference in tempraments?

flash22 thanks for the tip for loaches, I have 2 clowns so i'll get some of those as well.

with the algae wafer/pellets how many times a week would you drop one of those in?

sorry for all the questions but i've only had my tank since may so i'm very new to all this :fish:

wot size tank u got? big enough will house 2 no problem male and female IME is always better but 2 females is much better than 2 males :)

as for algae wafers i feed mine every day ,unless i feed brine pellets bloodworm etc etc :)

BN's seem to be the easiest plecs to feed they just munch on anything, I'm just waiting for mine to breed!!!
