Mac has not been active for two days. I decided to have a poke around to see what the problem was. This is what I found. I'm assuming he's taken a beating. Is there any fish in my tank ( See sig...55 gal) that could have done this! I'm extremely ticked off....

Tank is fully cycled and stable. Nitrates seldom get above 10ppm, and never above 20ppm....Water changes done weekly....

I had an african knife that had a similar situation where it was red and you could see bone however it grew back. it was a bit stunted but he lived fine from then on

I would seperate him if you can and use a treatment for wounds infection etc

what kind of knife is that?

He was labelled a Transparent Knife fish. I bought him on an impulse, which I usually don't do. I was thinking I will try to catch him, although I'm going to have to tear the tank apart to do it...The hospital tank is just 10 gal. Do you think that will stress him out too much? He's really not looking good, and the last inch of the tail is bone. If it's a bacterial infection, it's moving really fast. I took pics of him a few days ago, and he was fine, although it looked as if someone had taken a nibble on the back area. I've seen a Rainbow take a poke at him, but I'm assuming that most fish in the tank will pick on a sick fish...

I isolated him last night and treated with salt, and Pimafix. He was pathetically easy to catch. He died during the night, and needless to say, I'm rotted!
