I've had one female platy for about three weeks now. I thought she was possibly pregnant because she was hanging out near the filter, and her stomach looked like it was getting big. I read that the gestation period is about 4 weeks, so she should be huge, right? Is there anyway she may still get pregnant (storing sperm from an earlier pregnancy)? And can differeny platies cross breed (for example a red platy, and a blue-silver)?

Thanks for answering all of my unending questions.

Well depends how long into the pregnancy but platies do get fairly round (almost squarish when viewed from behind) so you'll know when she's about to give birth

Yes
