I have a 29 gal tank which I am currently cycling. I was wondering if there were any predatory fish I would be able to put in it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Also I forgot to mention, I live in the US, so no snakeheads :/

Buttery fly fish are smart, you could have them and also have larger community fish in there too. You could have some Channa Orientalis in there.

Thanks for the replies, an african butterfly fish would look great, I just need to see if my lfs will have them any time soon. But Im still open for suggestions, it will still be a while before I start to stock the tank.

no channas...snakeheads are illegal to keep here in the US.
butterfly fish are very cool fish! i like the idea :)
sorry dont have much to add, but ill be watching the thread:) ive got a spare 30 gal and looking for ideas.
cheers!

Sanchezi would work in 29g. Erythrinus erythrinus may work in the 30g depending on the dimensions.

And as bitter aspects said, exodons would be very cool. I'm thinking of having a shoal in my 80g once I get it set up again.

Ctenopoma, Nandus, Channa (dwarf species) to name a couple :)
