i have silk plants in my tank as i have given up on giving my sevs real ones to eat. i dont have any algae issues anywhere apart from on the surface of the leaves. would using a powerhead to give extra circulation help?

the flow isnt concentrated with the koralias so they would be fine

Yes as truck said, the flow isnt concentrated so it gives quite a nice gentle flow.

I only added mine to the tank about 4 days ago, along with an eheim external filter with spray bar. I have a variety of fish and they took a day or 2 to get used to the extra flow as the spray bar is making quite a strong current across the top of the tank whilst the powerhead is in the middle of the tank facing downwards, but now the fish seem to love it, especially the zebra danios, the seem to like trying to swim against the current lol

The reason powerheads are used in planted tanks is because the plant mass and hardscape can restrict flow around the tank, causing dead spots. The dead spots result in a lack of ferts to plants in these areas, causing them to suffer, and this promotes algae.

In your case, this is clearly not the cause of the algae, so powerheads may not be the answer.
