Poopin' Pleco!

Gad darn pleco be poopin all over the dang place!!!

Thinking of upgrading to a external filter for my 110L due to the high amount of waste my wee plec produces but I'm not sure which one to go for.

I'm on a budget by the way.

yep plecs sure are poop machines . lol an external will deffinately help with the bioload , wont do nothing about the poo tho

It might if it's positioned correctly and so helps to stop the poop from settling.

However having said that I'd be tempted to go for a small powerhead over and external if that was what you wanted one for.

Yeah my 2 BN pleco are poop monsters. Thinking of even selling one of them to reduce waste in the tank. Only thing that I know that would help you with poop is getting lots and lots of plants. As the poop acts like fertilizer for the soil.

I have 3 baby ones - they are only 2 inches long each, and they produce more poop between them than the other 9 fish in there!

A Fluval 205 external would suit the tank. If you have the inlet resting on the gravel it should collect a lot of the poo for you. However, you will probably find at least one area of the tank that is 'dead space' where the poop will tend to collect. Gravel vac during your water changes will remove the excess.

I have 2 x BN Plecos and they could poop for England! I put a lump of courgette in and they dont leave it until its gone - actually pooping it out while eating it - they are amazing!! You do need to be thorough on your gravel vacs and water changes or your nitrates will be sky high!
