Hi!
I am starting to want a pleco for my 75g, and I really want a small plec,
not sure if rubber lip is small?

A rubberlip is technically a small pleco when compared to the likes of a common pleco or similar. Apparently they should have a minimum of 20 gallons, but I feel like that'd be a little crowded, especially when a bristlenose (which are 1-3 inches smaller) needs 30 gallons minimum.

Your tank would probably be just fine for a rubberlip.

What are the tank dimensions? Pics?

They can be kept in tanks as small as 20 gallons, assuming you have proper filtration and a proper cleaning schedule.

One Rubber Lip should be perfect in a 75g. They only get about 7 inches long.

Loads of choices for a 75g. It would depend on tank mates in terms of temperature and assuming softish water. King Tiger, Queen Arabesque, Flash, Inspector, Wormline, Clown, Medusa, Starlight Bristlenose, Sultan, Blue Panaque would all be good. Blue Phantoms, Green Phantoms, most of the Gold Nuggets would be good but on the upper end.

Don't forget the whiptails either Sturisoma, Lamontichthys, Pseudohemiodon (Chameleons), Red Lizards. Beautiful fish, fill the same sort of niche but much less poop!

How much do trhey usually cpst?

Oh boy.. gotta get ready for that then
Dont want it to die
Getting expensive fish is a normal concern on the hobby. Heck, I’m about to get over $130 worth of saltwater fish/invertebrates!

As long as you keep up with your maintenance, check your water parameters often, and feed high quality food, there should be no issues. :)

Might be getting > £100 worth of corys eventually... It's a big leap of faith!

Fish these days are more expensive than ever - in the UK I see £100+ fish in most shops and fish that used to cost £1 or less each are usually £3-5 or more now.

I think with fish like this where you might only have a single one in a tank often cost more because thats how they are kept, where as schooling fish that are a few £ or $ each soon add up when you get 5-10 of them. Thats how I look at it when it comes to feature fish.

Plus with a big fish like a plec or a whiptail they are going to be hardier and of better quality than your average neon tetra or guppy so you shouldnt encounter the same risk of loosing them early on like you do with some other species that are perhaps a bit more inbred or exposed to less than ideal conditions.

My LFS is SO overpriced! They've got good prices on guppies and tetras but when it comes to bigger fish, you're having a laugh. £7-£10 for a single BNP!

My albino BNP was $14.
