hi
i have a 100 litre,20 gallon tank and would love a plec
is there any that would not out grow my tank and are fairly cheap

bristlenose, clown and bulldog plecs cant think of anymore. those are the cheapest ones i can think of, about a fiver each i reckon, get to about 5 inches i think. there doesnt seem to be many plecs that are in the 10-20 pound bracket, they seem to jump right up to 20/25 quid for babies of expensive plecs.

To get suitable catfish suggestions for your 20g, we need to know a few more details about your setup like...

What fish you already have (numbers and rough size)
What temp your tank heater is current set at (many "Rubbernose Plec" [Chaetostoma] species need cool conditions, ~21-23C)
The litres per hour ratings of your filter(s) and any powerheads in the tank (Chaetostoma species need more current than the average fish, a 20g would need more than ~1200lph [allowing for manufacturer ratings often being higher than real life throughput] for example)

Bulldog Plecos often need more care such as lower temperature, fast flowing water...
Clown Plecos are nice but are very shy and most of the time they hide. Also, this species needs bogwood in the aquarium to graze on
Bristlenose plecos are very easy to care for and come in many varieties. Super Red Bristlenose plecos, White Seam BN pleco, Lemon Bristlenose, Calico BN pleco...are all species of Bristlenose and are all much nicer than the bog standard Brown/Common Bristlenose Pleco. Bristlenose plecos are probably the best species there for you :good:

its about 980l an hour
5 ground feeders (2 zebra loachs, 2 dojo loachs, 1 corey)
2 angel fish
8 barbs
and some tetras

temp = 24c-26c
and there is 2 large pieces of wood and a small piece with java moss growing on it

There are several things that jump out from your current stocking...

Zebra Loaches are social and so need groups of ~5+http/www.loaches.com/species-index/botia-striata
Dojo (Weather Loaches) are social and need groups of ~5+ (I have 8), need a 5-foot plus tank long term for their ~25cm adult size and need cooler water than 24C for their regular temp http/www.loaches.com/species-index/weather-loach-misgurnis-anguillicaudatus
Many cory catfish prefer cooler water, Sterbai are one type that enjoy warmer tanks like yours. Any idea which species you have? They are also social and need groups.
Angelfish need a water depth (excluding gravel/sand) of 18" to prevent stunted growth, often shown by a loss of their classic clean-cut triangle shape towards the front.
Small tetras like Neons will be considered snacks by your Angels as they get older. Any idea which species you have?
Any ideas of the barb species?

the barbs are green and albino
the angels look ok but are younge at the moment and when larger my tank is going to have them in his tall 240l tank
the tetra are large but not sure of the name
the cory is a pepperard and i did have 6 but 5 have dieded over time
and the loach ok what should i do
