Plec With Oscar

hi i have an oscar in his own tank and have been growing a plec on in the community tank to go in with him as was told these are the only type of fish that can go in with him, what size plec in relationtion to what size oscar would you have them before you put them together

I would make sure the plec is quite large before putting him in as they grow slower than Oscars. So depends what size your Osacar is and what size your plec currently is.

i would say roughly the same size, my oscar beats the crap out of my plec ( plecs are well protected) tho he does wind the oscar up!! make sure you have plenty of low caves when you do move them so that the plec can get some peace and quiet, they may well get along great, but then they may turn out like mine, but Jambo ( my oscar) sees him as a toy, when he comes out he wants to play- and does it the only way he knows how, clown loaches are great with oscars too, but depends on the tank size as they like to be in groups of 3++,they are beautiful fish and untill recently my oscar was in with 2 with no problems at all ( funny that eh?) tho make sure that they are decent sized of course, dont put very small ones in there
there are lots of fish that can go in with oscars, but whatever you choose, ask when you buy it if you can return it should there be any problems,as not all oscars are willing to share tank space, and of course if you are thinking of adding another fish or 3 make sure that your filter is adequate, ideal is 5x turnover per hour
