Hi I bought this Pleco not long ago and it was labelled as a L140 Plecklitia Brevis, its a bit stressed at the minute so the colours a bit pale from what it was in the shop Can anyone confirm that this is right? I found this info about it and it looked the same to me http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=1339.
Well anyway here are a couple of pics:

I'l put some more on when he's out of the bag :)  He's already about 4" long so almost fully grown haha, seemed quite tame too, didnt really mind the guy picking him up.

Cheers
Rob

Heres a better one, he's hiding now so only took the one lol

thanks :D Yeah that's why I decided to get him :) he also goes a grey colour too when he's on the rocks which is really nice :)
quite a chunky thing too haha

Yeah, I don't think he's a L140...

You've probably got it right IDing him as a L205, Peckoltia Brevis

Out of interest, how much did you pay for him?

Ahh so the name was right but not the L number lol.

Well i got him for £5.00 from my lfs as someone bought all their fish in as they were closing their tank down. They had him for about a week but didnt really want to sell it as a specific plec as they were unsure what it was. So they sold it to me for a fiver as they weren't %100 on what it was and it was no loss to them selling it to me for that price :) They did say that they thought it it was a l140  Peckoltia Brevis which they would've sold for £25-£30 if they were sure it was that but they had the L number wrong anyway.
Is £25-£30 a reasonable price for one of those?
Hope it all made sense lol.

Going to feed him algae wafers and meat wafers same as the other plecs, cucumber, prawns, muscles occasionally too. he looks really healthy which is a bonus

Thanks for the correction

For a L140 it would be a decent price, yeah. Not so much for a L205 though :)

That sounds like a decent diet. I'm not sure how much he will like the algae wafers but the meaty foods will be great for him, I guess it will keep a balance though. So long as he actually eats them, all is good.

Good luck with him!

How much is a L205 worth? I haven't seen them in and fish stores before LOL, like my L048 haha.

Yeah hopefully he'll take the food straight away and isn't too stressed. He seems to have made himself at home lol.

Thanks for the help, will he still grow the same size, 12cm ? He's not far of that now :)

I'm only basing that on one I saw on the Aquarist Community for £15, I've just had a quick look and found one for the equivalent of £48 on an Canadian forum though so I'm not too sure.

Around 12cm or 4.5 inches, yeah :)

That's not too bad :) good to know how much its worth lol. I like his body shape haha, a lot different to my other 3 :L

I don't have any L numbers but I'd love one to add to my community tank :)

You seem to know your stuff about them lol.
Im addicted to them, i have 4 now and really cant get any more for my tank :( As soon as I move out im going to get a 5 or 6 foot tank and get loads haha
I keep looking on rare aquatics as they have some really nice looking ones but there just so expensive :(

Here's another pic i took last night, he's really not shy like some of my other fish that hide when i come in the room :L

Quite hairy too, had to pick him out of the bag as he was facing the wrong way and was getting stuck which i assume was the hair but im not sure.
His dorsal fin is huge when he swims off and brings it out :p

I try and learn a little about all the fish species that I like. If I can't get a fish myself, the next best thing is helping someone out who has them on here!

I almost bought a L066 off someone local for quite cheap last week but they never replied to my message. I'm not desperate (yet) so if they aren't bothered about taking my money then I'm not bothered about taking their fish :p

Upgrading sounds like a great idea. I'd love to but I'm going to uni in September so it's probably going to be a case of downgrading for a few years for me :/
Hopefully I'll be able to actually get a job and my own place after it all though, then the fun begins!

He looks great, happy too which is brilliant
