Please help before this gets to serious

That's deffinately a male dwarf. So it can't be full of eggs. How long has it been like this? Did you try fasting and then feeding a shelled pea? If not, do so. Also look out for white, stringy poo and let us know what it looks like. Dwarf gouramies unfortunately are prone to internal bacterial infections so if you fast and then feed peas and the poo is fine so you are sure it isn't parasites, and if you see no improvement after the pea, you should treat with an anti-internal bacteria med. Isolate the fish if you can as the meds can reack havoc on your biological filtration and remember to keep him in as stress-free an environment as possible with top water quality and lots of floating plants and hiding places to make him feel secure. Dimming the lights helps too. If you feed the pea and check the poo and, by process of ellimination, it does turn out to be an internal infection, put him in the isolation tank and then also gradualy lower the temp (over a couple of days - you can't afford to stress him in this sort of situation) to about 76 deg F (assuming it was higher). I'm suggesting this to buy you time as the bacteria will multiply slower at this temp. However, don't lower it any more than that or it might weaken the fish' immune system and also do it very very gradualy as you can't afford to stress him if he is sick. Watch for pineconing of scales. As long as he still isn't lying on the bottom and is still eating, he is still treatable. Oh but don't panic - you don't yet know this is the problem. because you mentioned a child fed the fish, I am more inclined to think constipation from over-feeding is the problem. Good luck anyway. :)

I have tried the peas for a while now, and it did not help. I finally did see a white stringy thing. I had done a 75% water change and vaccuumed the gravel. I treated the tank with jungle buddies parasite med. It is supposed to fix internal and extrenal parasites. It had worked for a few days. The fish became smaller again, and more active. I also added some aqaurium salt. It has been about 4 days, and the fish has a long white stringy thing coming out of him. I don't know what to do now. Here are my most recent stats on the tank:
Nitrate-20
Nitrite-1.0
Hardness-120
Alkalinity/Buffering- 180
pH-6.4
Ammonia-.25
Temp-76
I have guppies, mollies, a pleco, and a dwarf gouramie in that tank. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do to fix the problem?

I'm not sure about your fish but you should do a little water change since you have ammonia and nitrites in your water.

I treated the fish for parasites again, as he was still pooping white stringy things. Did an 85% water change, added pH booster and Doc Wellfishes aquarium salt. Everything else seems good, but the fish still looks kinda fat  Haven't seen anymore stringy things since I did the water change. I even tried fasting it and feeding a pea, he is pooping normal now. Any ideas?
