were here to answer relevant questions and to offer advice....if someone isnt taking the advice you give then you dont have to post.
the op has her way of fishkeeping that may or may not agree with yours... youve given your advice and some didnt read her replies clearly enough before posting...which leads to a feeling that they are being beligerant in their replies.
the op can take or leave your advice and all you can do is hope she takes on board whats been said and acts on it.
op.... were not here to tell you how to to keep your fish, but hope you will take the advice given knowing that we have the best interest for the fish and not to sell you something. you came looking for an answer for your nitrite level and basically you will need to do more water changes and maybe invest in another filter like a fluval3+ to run your tank more efficiently. as to choice of fish..there are those that do not get on with others and african cichlids are very aggressive and territorial over time..you seem to have got an understanding with your pet store that fish that get too big you can swap. this may be a good compromise for you to enjoy the fish you like but having so many fish in that tank is going to cause water quality issues.
if you want to keep the africans then seriously think about turning the whole tank into an african set up and you can enjoy the fish you like for longer.
